The festive advert battle

Something a little different today, I have always loved Christmas and really enjoy the build up to the big day. In recent years some of the big players in the retail business have started to release some very long and expensive Christmas adverts and it has sparked a little bit of competition amongst them as to whose will be the best.

A couple of days ago the Christmas John Lewis advert premiered, it seems a little strange to think that on a yearly basis now there is an advert premier for one of the leading department stores, but indeed there is, and it builds up a little anticipation as radio stations give out the time and channel of the airing of the new advert and then in the days that follow you will inevitably ask or be asked if you have seen it.

Well I have seen this years John Lewis advert and I'm sorry to say I don't like it as much as last years. I happen to think there is something a little creepy about the penguin, but that's just my opinion.

I also saw the Christmas Marks and Spencer advert which is rather sweet as it features two mischevious fairies. The remaining big players adverts that I will await are Debenhams and TK Maxx. They spend a huge amount on these and a lot of thought goes into making them something we all like to talk about and are becoming as much of a tradition as the benchmark Coca Cola adverts, after all everyone "the holidays are coming!"
