Take To The Streets | My Running Challenge

One of my New Years Resolutions was to lose 14lbs in 2014 and tone up in order to feel a whole lot better about myself and my body, but also to be more healthy. I don't exercise, I'm lazy by nature when it comes to that sort of thing and I know I am going to have to push myself so hard to keep this up. I am hoping that after the first couple of weeks I will start to enjoy it and it will become a habit.

I really do want to achieve my goal, but I also want to be able to say "I'm going out for a run" (yes I know that's weird, and no I don't know why I want to be able to say it. I think it sounds cool, I admire other people who are really active and enjoy sport)

When I get a little more into it and realise my personal limits I will start to set myself some goals to aim for. But at the moment I will just be happy to run to the end of the block without passing out!

I went into a sports shop to try and get a pair of trainers, but I couldn't find anything I liked. I'm kinda fussy and so far the only pair I have really wanted is a pale mint green and silver pair by Nike that cost £139! Hmmmmm, maybe not. As my boyfriend pointed out, they will get ruined and they are not exactly meant for sport, more of a fashion statement.

I did however pick up a couple of sports bra's, a Nike vest top and leggings, so I'm just missing the trainers now and then I can see how far up the street I get before I pass out!

I have since found myself a pair of trainers I am happy with, and I went out on my first run on Sunday night. I won't lie, it was really flippin difficult. I could only run for a minute or two before I was gassed and had to walk and it all made me feel a bit sick. My boyfriend was worried it would put me off, but I'm a fighter and pretty damn determined to do this so I will continue and not let it beat me!

So in the name of fighting spirit I got home from work yesterday and went out on another run, I managed to run a whole half mile without stopping or walking and I was so proud of myself. I know it doesn't sound like much of an achievement but to me it really is, I was never much into sport and haven't run since I was in school so this is a massive undertaking. I am hell bent on keeping it up and running on a regular basis. I want to drop those 14lbs, feel healthier and tone up some of my wobbly bits, which I might add are held in place pretty darn well by those Nike leggings!

If you are thinking about embarking on something like this yourself then I can't recommend some supportive clothing enough, because lets be honest none of us want to think about our butt shaking all over the place when exercising and more to the point, we don't want anyone else to see that!! So get yourself something to keep it all in place so you feel more confident in yourself, it makes such a difference I promise.
